BATS Chi-X Europe introduces Operator and sub-MIC codes

April 10, 2013 14:58:10

Dear BATS Chi-X Europe Participants,

As part of a change to the ISO 10383 Standard by SWIFT to introduce Operator and sub-MIC codes, BATS Chi-X Europe would like to inform Participants of its new Operator MIC, and two new sub-MIC codes.

Further to the combination of BATS Europe and Chi-X Europe, BATS Chi-X Europe has now been allocated an Operator MIC code of BCXE. The new code has been introduced to represent the combined company within the SWIFT ISO standard and is not intended to be used for Operational purposes. This change will not impact any aspect of BATS Chi-X Europe order entry, trade feeds or market data feeds used by Participants.

BATS Chi-X Europe has also applied for two further sub-MIC codes linked to its existing Primary sub-MIC codes of BATE and CHIX. These new sub-MIC codes, BATF and CHIO, were recently announced on the ISO SWIFT website (http://www.iso15022.org/MIC/homepageMIC.htm), and will be available with immediate effect for Participants to use to identify on-exchange off-book trades reported through BATS Chi-X Europe. As with the above Operator MIC, the new sub-MIC codes do not impact the BATS Chi-X Europe order entry, trade feeds or market data feeds used by Participants, and are intended as optional codes which may be used to sub-categorise CXE and BXE off-book trades only.

For the purposes of market identification, settlement and transaction reporting, Participants should continue to use the Primary sub-MIC codes of BATE and CHIX where appropriate.
