BATS BZX/EDGX Options Risk Management Updates

December 17, 2015

As previously announced, Effective Monday, February 1, 2016 in EDGX Options and Monday, February 8, 2016 in BZX Options, all OSI Root level risk limits (including Percentage of Quote) will now be checked in an atomic fashion inside a single matching engine and will no longer be split across four matching engines. Files uploaded using the Risk Management Profile Tool that include the legacy call/put or front/trailing month fields will be rejected at the time of upload.

BATS Options Exchanges to Offer Enhanced Atomic Risk Management at OSI Root Level with Symbol Distribution Rebalance

December 17, 2015

BATS is pleased to announce that it will be updating the Multicast PITCH feed symbol distribution for both EDGX Options Exchange and BZX Options Exchange to ensure all series for a given OSI Root will be located on the same Matching Engine/Multicast PITCH unit. Given that OSI Root level risk limits are applicable at the Matching Engine level, this change will allow Options Members to begin managing risk more strictly at the OSI Root level. Presently OSI Root level risk controls are made on a best efforts basis as OSI Roots are distributed across four (4) Matching Engines between calls vs. puts and front two (2) months vs. trailing months. Please also be advised that certain high volume symbols (i.e. SPY, QQQ, IWM) will be provided their own Matching Engine and as such unit distributions will not always be alphabetically contiguous and may include symbol gaps within a symbol range. Please click on the title for complete details.
