Please be advised that the brief matching issues experienced on BATS BZX Exchange at the open this morning lasted for anywhere from 48 seconds to 83 seconds and were a result of a series of issues on Matching Engines containing ETFs listed on BATS.
The root cause of this issue has been identified and will be corrected after the close.
During the issue this morning, the impacted Matching Engines automatically failed over to our backup Matching Engines. Any open orders on the impacted books at the time of the issue were automatically cancelled followed by an automated restart of matching on a secondary Matching Engine.

BATS Listed Security Auction Update
Given the fact that the Matching Engine issue occurred during the open, nine of the ETFs listed on BATS did not have an opening auction. As such, the BATS Official Opening Price for these securities was the official previous closing price. Impacted securities were as follows: EDEN, EFNL, EMHY, ENOR, EWAS, EWCS, EWGS, EWUS, SMIN.
No Closing Auction for 19 BATS Listed Securities Today (6/19/13)
As a result of the issues at the open and in the interest of maintaining a fair and orderly market, BATS BZX Exchange will not conduct a closing auction for the 19 BATS Listed Securities today. As such, the BATS Official Closing Price for the impacted ETFs will be the Final Last Sale Eligible Trade as defined in the BATS Auction Process specification.
